JESUS

Jesus

Here, everything is about Him and everything is for Him

The essence of Christianity is the person of Jesus. No serious scholar questions the historicity of Christ. He is not a legendary figure, but a real person. He is also the most important for us. Why? Because He is…

The most reliable source for understanding reality, the world, and humanity. For example, Buddha and Muhammad, though remarkable individuals, remained only human like the rest of us. It is different with Jesus. The Holy Scripture tells us that:

“…in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily”
(Colossians 2:9)

In other words, He was fully human and fully God.

God not only exists, but He also walked on this earth!

“You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached—about Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
(Acts 10:37–38)

This means being accountable for one’s life before the holy God and the transformation of human nature, which is corrupted and inclined toward evil. Anyone who has even briefly studied history knows that it contains records of unimaginable evil. God, however, is good and therefore cannot accept it. As a good God, He must punish evil — all of it, even the smallest. So that we would not have to be condemned for this, Jesus took that punishment upon Himself when He died for our sins on the cross. In this way, God opened the way for us to be reconciled with Him. At the same time, when we believe in this, God brings about an inner transformation in us, creating both the desire and the power to live a holy life.

Who do you consider Jesus to be?

As Professor C.S. Lewis put it:

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell… You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon, or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. It was not His intention.”
